The extreme wing of the Republican party is now in full control of the House agenda

What we need here is a dose of decency that will bring all parties back to the table. Sometimes that decency manifests itself in the form of leadership from the unexpected realm of sports. Days later, the most gifted hitter in baseball, Philadelphia Phillies Bryce Harper, had his own run in with distress. Game seven of the Philles-Diamondbacks series found Harper at the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning with two men on base. Trailing by a score of 4-2, all of the fans in the ballpark knew that they were in good hands. It was almost a given that Harper would hit one out of the park – or at least get the team into a tie game with a shot to the outfield. It didn’t happen.
