The singer-songwriter announced their separation on Saturday, November 2, though it appears that the couple has been apart for months. In an Instagram, Solange noted that she and Alan met 11 years ago, and that he “changed every existence” of her life thereafter.
“Early this year we separated and parted ways, I find it necessary to protect the sacredness of my personal truth and to live in it fully just as I have before and will continue to do,” she added. “It is unfair to not have power of your own story as you shape and mold and rewrite it yourself.”
