Softball: MacArthur breaks through in fifth inning to rout Clemens

But the batters woke up for MacArthur in the fifth, scoring seven runs on five hits and three errors on the way to an 11-1 win over Clemens in six innings in game one of their best-of-three area playoff series at North East Softball Complex. Bryley Westfahl led off the fifth inning for MacArthur with an infield single, beating out the throw from Clemens shortstop Alexus Worthy. The speedy Westfahl then stole second and third on consecutive pitches and scored on a passed ball.
“ pitched a great game,” Alfaro added. “She kept us off balance and we struggled with her through five and then finally we were able to open the gates.”
