The money from this SSI payment, which will be sent to recipients in seven days, will allow people to afford basic everyday items and goods, such as food and shelter.The Social Security Administration payments are intended to help elderly, blind, and disabled people who have little or no income of their own, according to the administration.
Payment recipients are not receiving any payment for January because they received two payments in December — one on Dec. 1 and the second on Dec. 30. The latter payment served as the SSI payment for January. When the first day of a month occurs on a weekend or holiday, however, the payments for that day are given on the last business day of the previous month, which was the case for the January payment given on Dec. 30.
