Marie-Véronique Bourque is a prominent musician who recently released a song about the purest of Saskatchewan activities: Shovelling snow.

The love part originated from “really great memories” of growing up in Quebec City, where her older brother would build forts in massive snowbanks that stretched as high as the roof.We deliver the local news you need in these turbulent times on weekdays at 3 p.m.By clicking on the sign up button you consent to receive the above newsletter from Postmedia Network Inc. “I was inspired just by sitting in my music room and watching my neighbour, who was shovelling the snow,” explains Bourque, who is also a trained singer. “The melody and the lyrics for the chorus came into my head right away. It was about five years ago. It took me all that time to figure out the verses and the melody for the versus. I would switch it and change it and I was never happy. I wanted people to feel connected to the song and I couldn’t find the right words.

“It’s fun to connect with people even from outside of the country, people who have the same opinion of having to shovel,” says Bourque. “I had a good vibe about it when I wrote it. I couldn’t wait to finally share it and see what people think of it. It has been awesome so far.”Article content Bourque went on to serve with various units in Quebec before applying for an instructor job at the RCMP Academy in Regina.
