The NFL officially announced Thursday afternoon it was moving the Cleveland Browns' road game against the Buffalo Bills to Detroit due to the weather.
has been moved to Detroit's Ford Field due to the massive snowstorm expected to hit Western New York. The game will remain at 1 p.m.
With the Greater Buffalo area expected to get several feet of snow by Sunday, the NFL and the two teams had been in steady contact over the last couple of days about contingency plans. The Bills are already scheduled play the Lions on Thanksgiving in Detroit, which is why moving the game to Monday wasn't an option.
It's the second time the Bills have had a home game moved to Motown due to snow, the other being a 2014 game against the New York Jets. The Browns and Bills played through blizzard-like conditions in a 2007 game in Cleveland, a game the Browns won 8-0. Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field and Washington's FedEx Field had also been floated as potential sites.
