Transport operator SMRT has taken disciplinary action against a bus captain who allegedly chided an elderly passenger for pressing the bus bell too early.

said the incident occurred on board bus service 180 on May 26, at around 6.50am. The bus was travelling along Hillion Mall to Lakeside MRT station. He recounted:"The passenger only realised his mistake when he was about to alight and saw that it was not the correct stop. He approached the bus driver to inform about the error he had made.

Passenger:"I saw the bus stop wrongly because I can't see clearly. The day is still dark, so I pressed at the wrong stop." Passenger:"None of your business if I choose not to wear my spectacles and you talk to me nicely ok." The passenger eventually alighted, but Raven said:"The bus driver continued talking to himself and grumbling, 'You eat until so old already and you never use your brain, don't press bell when not yet reach, stop playing with the bell, you how old already.'"The Stomper added:"This is totally unacceptable and uncalled for. Everyone will get old and deserves to be treated equally.
