The Small and Medium Enterprises Association of Malaysia (Samenta) warns that consumers may face a price increase of 20 to 60 percent if subsidy rationalization is implemented simultaneously with an increase in minimum wage.

PETALING JAYA: Pengguna perlu bersedia untuk menghadapi kenaikan harga antara 20 hingga 60 peratus sekiranya rasionalisasi subsidi dilaksanakan serentak dengan peningkatan gaji minimum, kata Persatuan Pengusaha Kecil dan Sederhana Malaysia .

Katanya, perusahaan mikro kecil dan sederhana juga perlu menampung peningkatan kos akibat kenaikan Cukai Perkhidmatan, tarif elektrik, harga barangan mentah dan harga penghantaran. “Sekiranya subsidi diesel dan elektrik ditarik balik, PMKS terutamanya dalam sektor pembuatan, akan melihat kenaikan kos antara tiga hingga lapan peratus.

Beliau berharap, sekiranya kerajaan mengambil pendekatan untuk merasionalisasikan subsidi kedua-dua diesel dan elektrik pada tahun ini, tiada kos baharu seperti kenaikan gaji minimum akan dilaksanakan.
