SHAH ALAM: Six men have been detained over the theft of eight boxes of microchips worth RM1.5mil from a cargo warehouse at KL International Airport (KLIA).

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said two men are believed to have broken into the warehouse at about 4.30am on April 21.

"Based on CCTV footage, we believe they stole eight boxes of chips meant for export to Taiwan to be used in the manufacture of mobile phones and televisions," he told a press conference at Selangor police headquarters here on Tuesday . Investigations led to several raids at KLIA, Sungai Pelek and Nilai between April 26 and 28, he added."The suspects have been remanded for further investigation until today. We will release them on police bail while waiting for instructions from the deputy public prosecutor," he said."We recovered all the stolen material," he said.
