Siti Bainun fails again to stay jail sentence
Rumah Bonda founder Siti Bainun Ahd Razali is serving her 12-year jail sentence for neglecting and abusing a teenage girl with Down syndrome. – The Malaysian Insider file pic, May 23, 2023.
“After examining the affidavits and submission by both parties, the court finds that the issues raised by the applicant’s lawyer could not show special or exceptional circumstances that would allow the court to grant the application,” said Ahmad. “What is available is the normal medical report dated December 6, 2022, the applicant’s admission letter to a hospital on November 28, 2022, and the photograph of her nose and lips, which cannot help the court,” he said.
“Without the applicant, charity work does not stop or become stagnant because there are still many volunteers who are active in charity work,” said Ahmad. He said based on a supporting affidavit from the investigating officer, the boy had been living with his parents in Puchong since last year. Izralizam meted out the sentence after finding Siti Bainun guilty of two counts of neglecting and abusing the 13-year-old girl at a condominium in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur between February and June 2021.
