SINGAPORE: A practising lawyer found himself standing sheepishly in the dock of the State Courts on Wednesday (Nov 6), after an alcohol-fuelled night out at Zouk nightclub in 2022.
GEORGE TOWN: Just moments after a phone call with her brother, Khadijah Ibrahim received another call – this time bearing the news that he had died.
“I spoke to Zulkifli on the phone at 12.47pm on Thursday. A few minutes later, I found out he died,” Khadijah, 64, recalled.Khadijah said she found it odd that her brother had called but did not say much.“I ended the call without giving it much thought,” she said when met at the Penang Hospital Forensic Medical Department yesterday.“I couldn’t believe it. My heart shattered because I had just spoken to him,” Khadijah said.
Zulkifli, 62, was found dead in a pool of his own blood, alongside the body of his 30-year-old daughter Siti Zulaila, at the lift foyer on the ground floor of their apartment at 1.15pm on Thursday.Police suspect the man murdered the father and daughter before turning the knife on himself. The suspect, who remains in stable condition, was remanded for seven days as investigations into the double murder continue.Khadijah described her brother as a kind person who was beloved by all in the family.Penang police chief Comm Datuk Hamzah Ahmad confirmed that the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.“The case is considered solved, and we are now working to determine the motive,” he said.
