“Satu hari, Gabenor Bank Negara memberitahu saya, sekiranya dalam sehari atau sebulan mendatang ini, kita tidak buat apa dan tidak membolehkan ekonomi bergerak seperti biasa, seluruh sistem kewangan dan perbankan negara akan runtuh.

Perdana Menteri yang juga Ahli Parlimen Pagoh itu berkata masalah ekonomi akibat penularan pandemik Covid-19 bukan sahaja berlaku kepada Malaysia, tetapi juga menjejaskan negara luar termasuk negara-negara maju.“Kegiatan ekonomi mesti kita tingkatkan dalam tempoh yang tidak terlalu lama. Bila kita laksanakan Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan , semua kilang berhenti bukan sehari tetapi berbulan-bulan, setiap hari perniagaan dan ekonomi kita tidak bergerak,” tambahnya.

“Dalam keluarga saya sendiri pun, ada yang teragak-agak untuk ke restoran, misalnya..selamat ke tidak. Ada halangan psikologi disebabkan tempoh tiga bulan lebih berada di rumah menyebabkan kita tidak bersedia untuk keluar,” kata beliau.
