A Singaporean man, Min Thein Kyaw, 46, has been sentenced to four years, three months, and 14 weeks in jail for exploiting and sexually abusing women and teenage girls. Min, who worked for a software firm at the time of the offences, lured around 50 victims, aged between 15 and 25, with promises of paid photo shoots . He then used his position of trust to secretly record intimate videos, some involving sexual acts, without their consent.
Min's crimes spanned from 2011 to 2020, during which he posed as a professional photographer through online advertisements on platforms like Facebook and Instagram. He targeted vulnerable women and girls seeking modeling opportunities, arranging sessions in his home and a rented studio. During these sessions, he gradually escalated his misconduct, touching their bodies inappropriately and engaging in sexual acts, often without their knowledge or consent. One particularly disturbing case involved a 16-year-old girl who joined a photography group online. Min contacted her, promising a portfolio photoshoot. He blindfolded her during the session and sexually assaulted her while filming the act. The victim, now 25, was unaware she was being recorded and was later paid $250 for the session. In another instance, Min sent sexually explicit text messages to a 12-year-old girl after she accepted his Instagram follow request. He was arrested the following day, and authorities seized his electronic devices, uncovering nearly 800 obscene films. Min pleaded guilty to 19 charges, including insulting a woman's modesty, making obscene films, and other related offenses. Apart from the prison sentence, he was also ordered to receive two strokes of the cane
