PETALING JAYA: A Singaporean who lost his car in Genting Highlands only to recover it a few days later in an unrecognisable state has vowed not to drive up to Malaysia again.

Quoting Shin Min Daily News, AsiaOne reported that Damien Yeo, 28, had driven up to the highlands resort with his girlfriend and two friends on July 15, and had parked his Honda Civic Type R at a shopping mall’s parking lot.Yeo immediately lodged a police report and on July 20, he received a call from the police to say that his car was found at a condominium in Putrajaya.

When Yeo went to identify his vehicle, he was shocked that the car was nearly unidentifiable, with its tyres and steel rims replaced and its black car wrap torn off. The car keys were reformatted so the vehicle could not be driven, and the Singaporean licence plate was replaced with a Malaysian one. Valuables like cash and cash cards were missing from the car while dismantled car parts were found in the vehicle’s boot.“In the near future, I will not dare to drive to Malaysia,” Yeo was quoted as saying.

He added that he might have to “spend a fortune” to replace the damage which he estimated to be around S$8,000 .
