Lim, who underwent heart surgery in 2018, had previously disclosed in an interview that he was diagnosed with a slow pulse rate in 2022 and opted against receiving a pacemaker. Ischaemic heart disease is a condition characterized by the hardening and narrowing of the arteries.
News of Lim's death sparked an outpouring of grief from the Singapore entertainment industry. The bilingual star was renowned for his roles in series like the Channel 5 sitcom 'At Home.'At his wake held at Church of the Good Shepherd on February 13th, a photo of Lim with his arms outstretched and a radiant smile greeted attendees at the entrance. Notable figures like celebrity couple Fann Wong and Christopher Lee, actor Mark Lee, Jalan Besar GRC MP Denise Phua, actor-director Jack Neo, and veteran radio host Qiu Shengyang offered their condolences through floral wreaths. Neo and actor Henry Thia were among the first of Lim's celebrity friends to pay their respects in person. Neo, 65, who collaborated with Lim on numerous projects, expressed his shock upon learning of Lim's passing, stating he was unaware of Lim's health struggles. Recalling a humorous incident during a live performance, Neo shared that Lim had accidentally stumbled offstage while walking backward and missed a step. He fondly remembered how this mishap, despite its initial shock, always brought laughter whenever revisited. Neo revealed that he last encountered Lim during a radio interview in 2024 and had invited him to the premiere of his latest film, emphasizing that Lim appeared to be in good spirits at the time.
