From March 31, app stores in Singapore will be required to block users under 18 from downloading apps not intended for their age group. The new Code of Practice for Online Safety for App Distribution Services, announced by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), aims to protect children from harmful online content. Major platforms like Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei AppGallery must implement age verification measures to ensure children under 12 cannot download apps rated for older users.

Digital Development and Information Minister Josephine Teo said the new code is designed to ensure children can safely access age-appropriate content. — Pic from TODAYas a first-time user . The platform must also inform the user who reported the issue, unless the report is deemed frivolous.
