A 30-year-old woman in Singapore has been sentenced to three years in prison for defrauding 76 individuals of over S$110,000 in a ticket scam targeting Taylor Swift fans. Foo Mei Qi listed non-existent tickets on Carousell for Swift's Eras Tour concerts, pocketing the money without providing the promised tickets. This is not her first offense, as she had previously been convicted for a similar scam in 2022.

A 30-year-old woman from Singapore , Foo Mei Qi, has been sentenced to three years in prison for scamming 76 individuals out of over S$110,000 (approximately RM360,000) in a ticket fraud scheme. Foo's operation targeted enthusiastic fans of the global pop sensation, Taylor Swift , by listing non-existent tickets on the popular online marketplace, Carousell , for Swift's highly anticipated Eras Tour concerts in Singapore scheduled for March 2 to 4 and 7 to 9, 2024.

After receiving payments from unsuspecting victims, Foo abruptly cut off all communication, leaving them with empty promises and no access to the concerts. Foo's criminal enterprise was not a one-time occurrence. She had previously been convicted in March 2022 for a similar scam involving concert tickets, serving a 17-month prison sentence. Tragically, her previous conviction did not deter her from repeating her fraudulent activities, leading the judge at the time to express concern that the sentence had failed to rehabilitate her. Foo's latest scheme involved selling fake Bruno Mars tickets to three additional victims, resulting in their inability to attend the concert. Furthermore, two other charges related to a scam exceeding S$8,800 were taken into account during her sentencing. Foo confessed to utilizing the stolen funds to cover personal expenses, including meals, medical bills, and family costs. The authorities apprehended Foo on March 11, 2024, following numerous complaints filed by victims.
