Singapore's Budget 2025 focuses on providing financial relief to households grappling with rising costs. The government plans to distribute S$800 in CDC vouchers per household, along with increased U-Save rebates, LifeSG credits, and Edusave top-ups. ComCare support will also be strengthened, and the Singapore Allowance for pensioners will be increased.
Singaporean households will receive substantial financial assistance in 2025 to alleviate the pressures of rising living costs. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced a comprehensive package during his Budget 2025 speech, titled 'Onward Together For A Better Tomorrow,' outlining measures to support families, individuals, and the elderly. A total of 1.3 million Singaporean households will be granted S$800 in CDC vouchers, with S$500 disbursed in May and the remaining S$300 in January 2026.
This follows the recent distribution of S$300 CDC vouchers in January, highlighting the government's commitment to providing ongoing financial relief. In addition to CDC vouchers, households will benefit from increased U-Save rebates, amounting to up to S$760 in financial year 2025. This double the usual amount will assist over 950,000 families residing in Housing Board flats in managing their utility expenses.Families with children will receive additional support through S$500 in LifeSG credits per child aged 12 and below. These credits can be utilized at various online and physical merchants accepting PayNow or Nets QR payments. Singaporeans aged 13 to 20 in 2025 will receive a S$500 top-up to their Edusave or post-secondary education account, enabling them to cover approved education-related expenses. Furthermore, the government will enhance ComCare support from April, providing greater assistance to households facing financial hardship. For instance, a one-person household on long-term assistance will receive an additional S$120 per month, bringing their total monthly cash assistance to S$760. Community organizations aiding those in need will also receive increased support. The Singapore Allowance, a monthly pension for some pensioners, will be raised from S$350 to S$390 from April, and the monthly pension ceiling will be increased to S$1,320. PM Wong emphasized the government's dedication to supporting Singaporeans through these challenging economic times, stating that they will continue to provide assistance as long as needed within their means.
