Last year’s Silsbee team opened the playoffs with a win over Furr before earning a regional championship.
The Tigers went on a 13-3 run in the fourth quarter to lead by double digits and Dre’lon Miller scored a game-high 21 points to send Silsbee to the regional championship for the third consecutive season with a 68-62 victory over Furr. “They attacked the basket very well, we had to basically stop that, we didn’t do a very good job the entire game but we did well enough to win,” Silsbee coach Joe Sigler said.
“They’re very scrappy but when you get to this point, everything’s tough,” Sigler said. “We were able to rebound with them enough to where they didn’t get those second shots. …It’s hard right now, everybody’s trying to get to San Antonio. I’m very pleased with the effort, that was a very tough team.”
