Yordan Alvarez believes that a foul ball was 'a sign from God' to leave Friday's Astros game

out of an abundance of caution. Alvarez returned to Houston’s lineup Sunday as its designated hitter.

“At first I was super nervous to go to the hospital, but before we even left and I came in , I was starting to feel better and breathe better,” Alvarez said Sunday. “By the time we got to the hospital, I was feeling fine. When the results came back all clear, I felt really good.” Alvarez said he is still unsure what caused his medical episode and had never before experienced shortness of breath. He said he did “the same routine as always” before Friday’s game, but began to feel uneasy in the second inning.

“About the second inning, I kind of started to feel a bit hot,” Alvarez said. “My body started to heat up a little bit. Then, in that inning, I started to feel a little bit odd.” Alvarez tried to finish the fifth inning. Four batters in, he felt too uneasy to continue. Grissom, the fifth, fouled the first pitch he saw off his foot.
