Queensland Police Association President Ian Leavers says the death of army veteran Steven Angus “should have been preventable”.
Mr Leavers’ comments come after Steven Angus was shot dead by police one day after being discharged from hospital without treatment despite an arrangement for him to be taken to a private mental health facility to get help.
“This should have been preventable; it should not have happened, Mr Leavers told Sky News host Erin Molan. Mr Leavers said police did their best to take him to a place of safety, and yet “the system failed again”.“He still should be alive today receiving treatment.”Kids Helpline: 1800 55 1800
