Shelby American just launched a 1300-HP 'Code Red' version of the GT500.
The Code Red project is one of the firm's experimental builds, which usually don't see production. This time, however, Shelby American says it's making 10 units per model year of 2020, 2021, and 2022 GT500s. Those cars will be upgraded with an intercooled twin-turbo setup for the 5.2-liter V-8, custom pistons, a new exhaust, competition valves, new oil pumps, a reworked fuel system, an anti-lag system, and more.
Output on E85 is 1300-hp and 1000 lb-ft of torque. Run the car on pump gas and the claimed output falls to"over 1000" hp and 780 ft-lbs of torque, big gains over the 760 hp and 625 lb-ft of the standard car. To cope with the power, Code Red cars get Ford Performance sway bars, wider bodies, performance half shafts, retuned MagneRide, and wider tires.
