KOTA KINABALU: State caretaker Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal is leaving it to the state Attorney General (AG) to handle a legal bid to stop the Sabah polls.
When asked to comment on the matter, he said it’s better to just leave the matter to the state AG as he did not have the authority to dissolve a state assembly to make way for snap polls.
Among the grounds cited were the Covid-19 pandemic and irregularities in the electoral roll that needed cleaning up.Shafie said they went through the necessary procedures when applying for the dissolution, with a letter sent on July 29. Earlier, Shafie said he had sought a meeting with the TYT, to apply for the dissolution of the state assembly following persistent political pressures from within and outside Sabah.
