Scott had previously said that Lee called 911 after his attack on Tuesday morning, according to the outlet, which also cited unnamed sources to report that a"silver kitchen knife with a four inch blade" was found near the site of Lee's attack in the city's downtown Rincon Hill neighborhood, though it's not clear if it's been linked to his death.

Representatives for the San Francisco police department and the city's department of emergency management did not respond to Insider's requests for comment on Friday. Lee, who was chief product officer at fintech company MobileCoin, was seen attempting to get help on Main Street close to the Oakland Bay Bridge, according to an earlier report byThe San Francisco police previously said in a statement that they responded to a call regarding the attack early morning on Tuesday at 2:35 a.m.
