Believing they may have interrupted a theft in progress, officers drove after the suspect vehicle, police said. When the car pulled into a dead-end street, the driver placed the vehicle in reverse and ran into the police car, then attempted to drive forward, smashing into a trash dumpster, according to police.
The driver of the suspect vehicle and one of the occupants hopped out of the car and ran to a nearby construction site,"leaving their vehicle to roll away and become involved in another vehicle collision with surrounding objects," the department said. The officers detained two other suspects who were in the car car before they fled.
