The village in southwestern part of the county recorded about 2 inches of rain, according to estimates. That prompted fair officials to close the event on one of its most popular days, the truck pull put on by the Ohio State Tractor Pullers Association.
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Lorain County Fair, one of the state’s largest, closed its doors Thursday after rains pounded the fairgrounds in Wellington.
The severe weather hit Wellington about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and continued through the night. Residents took photos of the powerful rains, showing vehicles submerged there. There was no indication of problems with livestock. The weather closed three roadways in the southern part of the county: Ohio 18, between Ohio 511 and Quarry Road; Ohio 18, between West Road and Hawley Road; and Ohio 303, between Pitts Road and Quarry Road.
