Several roads in JB to close for annual Chingay festival

JOHOR BARU: Several roads in the city will be closed in stages starting from Wednesday (Feb 12) to Saturday (Feb 15) for the annual Chingay festival.

In a statement, Johor Baru OCPD Asst Comm Shahurinain Jais said that the road closure on Wednesday would affect the Johor Baru Old Temple in Jalan Trus.“On Thursday , only Jalan Trus, Jalan Ngee Heng, Jalan Tun Razak and Jalan Ulu Air Molek will be closed from 8.30am to 2.30pm, ” he said.

“The second stage will commence at 5pm and continue until 3am the following day, involving Jalan Ayer Molek, Gertak Merah, Jalan Wong Ah Fook, Jalan Meldrum, Jalan Siu Nam, Jalan Siu Chin, Jalan Tun Sri Lanang roundabout, Jalan Station, Jalan Abu Bakar, Susur Lingkaran Dalam and Jalan Abu bakar as well as the Jalan Sungai Chat, Jalan Abu Bakar, Jalan Dato Onn and Jalan Ayer Molek intersections, ” he said.

“For those headed to Sultanah Aminah Hospital, they should travel from Jalan Skudai to Jalan Pantai Lido. ACP Shahurinain advised the public to maintain order during the event and not to bring dangerous items such as knives and fireworks.
