A Bonnette player tries to get a shot off before a host of Blocker defenders get to him in Friday night's tournament game in the Bobcat Gym. The Bobcats, 1-1 in the tourney so far, play two more games on Saturday. The Seabrook Intermediate seventh grade A boys basketball team led from start to finish in knocking off San Jacinto Intermediate 33-25, allowing the Spartans to complete a 2-0 pool record on the opening night of the annual San Jacinto Invitational in the Tigers Gym Friday night.

San Jacinto, courtesy of a scary 26-23 win over Highlands Middle School two hours earlier, will use that 1-1 pool record to compete in the Silver Bracket Saturday. The Tigers will meet Bonnette Junior High at 10 a.m. back at the San Jacinto Intermediate campus. Seabrook will compete in the Gold Division and their first assignment is 1 p.m.

San Jacinto got within four points at 15-11 after an Edwards treys, but that's when the Spartans went on a 9-2 rampage, creating that 26-13 lead. The bucket that hurt the worst in that stretch was a loose ball on the floor, that the Spartans finally grabbed possession of, before knocking down a 3-point goal.

Bonnette was dumped to the Silver bracket with the loss. The Bobcats will oppose San Jacinto at 10 a.m., before meeting Queens or Jackson at noon at San Jacinto Intermediate for that title contest.
