KUALA LUMPUR: Seven people have been detained in a raid on a condominium unit in Cyberjaya that was used as a scam call centre .
Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said the suspects, five men and two women aged 22 to 36, were detained in the raid on Thursday ."We seized various items including seven laptops, 11 mobile phones and a set of keys," he told reporters at CCID headquarters here on Wednesday .
Investigations found that the syndicate was running a job scam targeting victims from Hong Kong, Comm Ramli said. "The suspects would instruct the victims to perform certain tasks before they could get a 20% return on the amount they paid during registration."Each suspect was paid RM4,000 a month," he said.
