A horrific road accident on the North-South Expressway near the Ayer Keroh toll plaza in Melaka claimed the lives of seven people, including a baby girl, after a trailer truck's tyre came off, causing a chain reaction collision.
A fatal road accident in Melaka on December 23, involving a tour bus, a trailer truck, and an MPV, resulted in the deaths of 7 people, including a baby girl, while 33 others sustained injuries. Authorities reported that the impact of the collision was so severe that the body of one male victim was severed above the waist. Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased.
Initial investigations indicate that the accident was caused by a trailer truck's tyre detaching, which caused the tour bus to swerve and collide with three oncoming vehicles. Loke directed the Director of the Enforcement Division of the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to conduct a thorough investigation into the accident and take appropriate action against the involved companies. He also emphasized that JPJ will continue to enforce strict regulations on heavy commercial vehicles to prioritize road safety
