Seven individuals, including four fatalities, were hospitalized after attending a concert in Bandar Sunway, Subang Jaya, on New Year's Eve. Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan revealed that all seven individuals lost consciousness after consuming drugs at the Pinkfish concert. According to the investigation, some victims purchased ecstasy pills at the concert, while others obtained them elsewhere and consumed them prior to the event's start.
Comm Hussein stated that the police would collaborate to implement stricter regulations for future concerts to prevent similar incidents. The police chief emphasized that the concert organizer failed to guarantee the safety of attendees. Comm Hussein disclosed that 14,000 tickets were sold, and considering the presence of security and first aid personnel, it is estimated that more than 14,000 people were present at the concert. He stated that the police will scrutinize various aspects in the future, including the genre of music played and the number of attendees based on the concert's location. The police have detained suspects aged between 20 and 30 years old across Selangor between January 8 and 21.
