Seven individuals, including a woman, were arrested in Perak for allegedly stealing air conditioning compressors from homes and businesses throughout 2022. Police investigations led to the arrest and charging of four suspects, resulting in the resolution of three cases.
Authorities in Perak have apprehended a group of seven individuals suspected of orchestrating a string of air conditioning compressor thefts. Perak Tengah District police chief Supt Hafezul Helmi Hamzah revealed that the suspects, ranging in age from 17 to 45, were apprehended following a meticulous investigation conducted by the Special Intelligence Operations Division of the Perak Tengah District Police Headquarters.
Supt Hafezul Helmi stated that four of the seven arrested individuals have already faced charges in court under Section 379 of the Penal Code. This legal action has led to the resolution of three out of the eleven reported theft incidents. He elaborated on the suspects' modus operandi, explaining that they primarily targeted unoccupied premises or homes that had been left unattended for extended durations.In a bid to curb future occurrences, Supt Hafezul Helmi issued a public appeal urging residents to utilize the 'Balik Kampung' Feedback Form initiative. This initiative facilitates regular monitoring and patrols of unattended homes or properties by law enforcement. He emphasized that members of the public can obtain the feedback form at nearby police stations. Furthermore, he encouraged the public to leverage the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) app to inform authorities about their absences
