Christian Plummer, 26, was sentenced to 34 months in prison for his latest bank robbery conviction.

SAN FRANCISCO — A man who robbed a Wells Fargo just weeks after being freed from a 24-month prison term in a prior bank robbery case has been sentenced to federal prison once again, court records show.

Christian Plummer, 26, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Edward Chen to 34 months in prison. Plummer pleaded guilty to robbing a Wells Fargo in San Francisco on Dec. 30, roughly one month after he was released from federal prison. Plummer handed the teller a threatening note and left the bank with $3,100, authorities said. Unfortunately for him, a tracking device was hidden in the stack of cash and police were able to arrest him just four blocks away from the bank. The teller feared for her life, prosecutors said., Plummer was charged with robbing six banks but pleaded guilty to one bank robbery charge in a deal with federal prosecutors.

Plummer’s lawyer said his offense was motivated by “long term mental illness and homelessness,” and said Plummer plans to return to the East Coast to be with family after his release. “Christian Plummer comes before this court filled with regret and shame for committing another unarmed bank robbery,” Assistant Federal Public Defender Angela Chuang said in a sentencing memo. She later added, “With nowhere to live and with no transportation waiting to take him to a treatment program, he ended up on the streets again and immediately relapsed on meth.
