Senators Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa and JV Ejercito on Tuesday were alarmed that several Chinese nationals who allegedly abducted a Filipina had high-powered handguns and a grenade.

Tabernilla showed the photos of arrested Chinese nationals Yun Gao and Jia He Zhang and a photo of the firearms seized in the operation.Dela Rosa, who was presiding over the hearing, noticed that the weapons were expensive, high-powered handguns. Dela Rosa added that the proliferation of unlicensed handguns held by foreign nationals was a security problem.

Apart from the two Chinese nationals who were arrested with unlicensed firearms, Tabernilla said they also apprehended another Chinese national, Lie Wang, in a follow-up operation.Meanwhile, Sen. Ejercito raised the possibility that Chinese syndicates were masquerading as POGOs so they could enter the country and abduct victims.

Cruz had testified that the PNP had recorded 892 suspects in POGO-related incidents from 2017 to January 2023.
