MANILA, Philippines — A Senate committee approved Tuesday the bill seeking to divide Caloocan City’s Barangay Bagong Silang – the biggest in the Philippines both in size and population — into six independent villages.
The Senate committee on local government approved House Bill No. 5819 filed by Caloocan 1st District Rep. Oscar “Oca” Malapitan.“There being no more matters to take up, House Bill No. 5819 is hereby approved at the committee level and will be submitted to the plenary already for deliberation,” declared panel chair Senator JV Ejercito during the hearing.
