In co-sponsoring Senate Resolution 61, Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva said the country’s Filipinas team “deserves all the support, praise, and commendation of the entire nation for these historic feats.”“History is written once again as the Filipinas team clinches its first international trophy under the AFF banner, and the team’s outstanding performance, skill, determination, and undeniable fighting power showcases the undeniable world class talent of Filipino athletes,” he said.
Senator Ramon ‘’Bong’’ Revilla Jr. also congratulated and commended the country’s women football team for winning the Championship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Football Federation held on July 17, 2022. Revilla, who co-sponsored Senate Resolution 50, taking into consideration proposed Senate Resolution 51, 54, 57, 62, 89 and 117, said the team’s win had placed the Philippines among the ranks of the best in football in Southeast Asia and the world.“We recognize the strength and the resilience of their spirit. They are living testaments that our potential for greatness is set in motion if we work passionately and diligently on it,” Revilla said.
