Bernie Sanders’s wife and son are suspending their nonprofit think tank, The Sanders Institute.
The two-year-old nonprofit, which promotes the senator’s liberal ideology, accepts donations but does not disclose who gave them. To continue the practice while Sanders is running for president would be akin to what Sanders and others criticized Clinton for doing as a candidate. The institute’s fellows include top supporters of Sanders’s campaign. Among them is Nina Turner, a campaign co-chair, and Shaun King, a Black Lives Matter activist and writer who helped introduce Sanders at his kickoff rally in Brooklyn earlier this month.
