The Selangor State Government launched the 'Surprising Selangor' campaign, aiming to attract 8 million tourists by the end of 2025. The campaign will showcase the state's vibrant culture, culinary diversity, and exciting plans for the upcoming year.
The Basecamp, 3rd Floor South Wing, Sri Pentas, 3,Persiaran Bandar Utama, 47800 PJ, Selangor launched under the tagline “Surprising Selangor ”, with the ambitious goal of attracting 8 million tourists by the end of 2025. The launch event, officiated by YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari, Chief Minister of Selangor , brought together over 5,000 attendees for a weekend of festivities, performances, and cultural celebrations.
Featured artists included Cakra Khan, Datuk Amy Search, Suki Low, and Aizat Amdan. 70 food booths served 60 of Selangor’s most beloved delicacies. Key destinations in the northern and southern regions of Selangor will be spotlighted, offering fresh travel opportunities and hidden gems for visitors to explore. The Selangor State Government has allocated RM8 million for the campaign, slated to promote local tourism and fund events, marketing efforts, and partnerships. The goal is to generate an estimated RM11.7 billion in tourism receipts while creating job opportunities across the state. According to Selangor’s EXCO of Local Government and Tourism, YB Dato’ Ng Suee Lim, the Selangor government has introduced new measures to encourage arts and cultural activities. This initiative not only encourages greater tourist inflow but also promotes Selangor as a hub for arts, culture, and entertainment. AVIS Malaysia will be launching Visitors can immerse themselves in nature, indulge in culinary adventures, or discover cultural treasures. VSY 2025 invites tourists to experience these wonders firsthand! Through our continued collaboration with local municipal councils and tourism operators, we are committed to providing unparalleled hospitality and tailored experiences for both domestic and international visitors,” said YB Dato’ Ng Suee Lim.
