Selangor FC head coach Katsuhito Kinoshi is considering significant lineup changes for the second leg of the Charity Cup semi-final against Penang FC due to injuries affecting several players. The Red Giants currently hold a 1-0 lead from the first leg and aim to secure their spot in the final.
Selangor FC head coach Katsuhito Kinoshi hinted at major squad changes for the second leg of the Charity Cup semi-final against Penang FC at the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Stadium in Kelana Jaya this Sunday. Kinoshi made the decision following a series of injuries to several players, forcing him to make changes and field different players.
The Japanese-born coach, however, will monitor the players' injury status over the next few days and will make the final decision before the match kicks off. \“I hope the weather will be better and we need to prepare for the next match, but some players have suffered minor injuries. However, we have players on the bench who are ready to be fielded. We will decide later which players will be fielded for the match,” he said. \The Red Giants squad carries a slim 1-0 lead from the first leg of the semi-final at Bandaraya Stadium on January 19. This advantage needs to be maintained in the second leg if Kinoshi's charges want to advance to the final of the Charity Cup this season. The competition is considered important for the Red and Yellow team to ensure they end the Malaysia League season without a trophy after being eliminated in the FA Cup, Malaysia Cup, and AFC Cup II. The fight for the Super League title is also seen as over as they are far behind Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) in the Super League, where Selangor is currently in second place. - UTUSA
