SEPANG: Security measures at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 will be reviewed after a bodyguard was shot in the stomach on Sunday morning.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said one of the reasons he decided to come to the airport was to meet with airport officials about security."That said, security measures will be studied thoroughly and comprehensively," he said. When asked about safety concerns at the airport, Comm Mohd Shuhaily said this was not a random attack."People should not be worried about security at airports at this moment," he said.Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the shooting occurred at around 1.30am inside the arrival hall. The suspect then fled the scene.

Follow-up investigations indicated that the suspect had intended to shoot his wife, who was waiting for the arrival of an umrah group. The case is being investigated as attempted murder under section 307 of the Penal Code and the Firearms Act 1960.
