SAN JOSE — A community group’s lawsuit has stalled the development of a new food bank in San Jose’s Alviso district at a time when skyrocketing consumer prices have pinched the pocketbooks of people on tight budgets.

The litigation claims that San Jose city officials employed a flawed process to properly assess the environmental impacts that would be caused by the operation of the food bank in the Alviso district. City officials, during a meeting on Aug. 23 when they rejected an Espinoza appeal to re-do the environmental assessment, stated that San Jose conducted a thorough analysis.

— On Sept. 9, the group filed a lawsuit that claimed an environmental review over a proposed hotel in Alviso was conducted improperly.
