SEARCH CONTINUES - After a brief pause overnight, the search continues for a skier who never returned home from Solitude Mountain Resort on Monday. Some areas of Solitude are closed due to the search.
BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON, Utah — Search and rescue crews are continuing to look for a skier who never returned home from Solitude Mountain Resort on Monday.
According to Unified Police, the skier was supposed to be back by 2 p.m. But as of Monday night, his vehicle was still in the parking lot. The search-and-rescue mission is headquartered at Solitude's lodge — however, they are searching both in and near the resort as officials say they do not have a specific location where he might be.
Search operations were paused at about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday and resumed around 7:15 a.m. with no update on where the skier, UPD reported.Due to the search and rescue operation, Solitude Mountain Resort announced Apex, Summit and Sunrise will be closed as areas are searched. The resort said they hope to have Moonbeam open by 9 a.m., but a delay is possible.
