Yes the 9 quarts is a bit off. Total liquid added is 5 cup.. Have to do the "loaves and fish" trick to get 8 Quarts. Made a 1/2 recipe and have to say the taste was amazing .....This is a superb recipe. I made it once to rave reviews by the resident food critic who said it was absolutely delicious and a great treat.
It was absolutely wonderful. I plan to make this often.What can be used in place of clam juice if making this for a group where someone is allergic to shellfish? We'd be using all fish for the protein. If there isn't a replacement, what chowder recipe would you recommend that may work in its place?This was delicious! I found instructions a little hard to follow, potatoes needed more cooking. That didn’t matter it came out great. I used Halibut, baby Clams and crabmeat.
