LUCENA CITY, Quezon – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Sunday, August 27, temporarily suspended sea travel in northern Quezon due to super typhoon “Goring.”
The PCG station in northern Quezon implemented the order after the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration raised tropical cyclone warning No. 1 on Polillo Island at 5 a.m. on Sunday.
The suspension is in accordance with the NHQ-PCG Memorandum Circular 02-23 entitled Revised Guidelines on the Movement of Vessel During Heavy Weather dated March 23, 2023. It said that voyage may be allowed in the main supply routes and special areas under the conditions set forth by the order as verified by the PCG station led by acting station commander Petty Officer 1 Rafael Pangilinan.
The PCG reminded all vessels to take precautionary measures and be extra vigilant in monitoring the movement of Goring if deemed to be affected by the weather disturbance. Vessel intending to take shelter shall be permitted as long as it is manifested through a written request and no passenger or cargo will be allowed on board.
