A new clip from the upcoming Scream movie features Dewey reciting a series of rules that must be followed in order to find out who Ghostface is.

A new clip from the highly-anticipated Scream features Dewey explaining in detail how to find the new Ghostface. The first Scream revolutionized the horror genre upon its release in 1996. Chock-full of self-awareness and meta-commentary on the horror genre itself, Scream launched a successful franchise, which now includes a TV show and four feature films, the fifth of which, simply titled Scream, is due out in mid-January.

Trailers and promotional material for the upcoming Scream film showcase both returning and new characters and promise a scarier, more brutal version of the iconic Ghostface killer. Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette are all reprising their roles as Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, respectively, while newcomers Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Dylan Minnette, and Jack Quaid round out the rest of the cast.

While Meeks' rules in the 1996 original film carry a slightly more humorous tone when they're delivered, Dewey's speech is decidedly more serious, likely a result of his continued torment by Ghostface over the years. In addition to"never trust the love interest," Dewey also explains that"the killer's motive is always connected to something in the past," and that the killer is always part of the first victim's friend group.

Fans of the original Scream will likely be happy to see the new film sticking to the series' signature self-awareness. In the clip, for example, Dewey references the three-act structure typical of most Hollywood movies and says that"act three" is when Barrera and Quaid's characters can expect a seemingly trustworthy romantic interest to turn on them.
