Ganassi claims it simply picked up Palou's option, which it implied was a clause in the contract, while McLaren says it has added Palou to its driver roster for next season. Palou went to social media on Tuesday to say that he had had signed with McLaren and that he had no idea where the quotes came from that were attributed to him in the Ganassi press release announcing it had signed Palou.
“I do not intend to comment on my intentions,” Palou said. “I don’t have anything else to add to what I said on Tuesday. Everything is good. We’re here in Toronto.”Meanwhile, teammate Dixon said that he wasn't a part of the discussions and didn't have anything he could share specifically about Palou's deal. So far, team boss Chip Ganassi hasn't publicly addressed the week's developments or the uncertainty of Palou's future with the team beyond Tuesday's press release.
