Burger twice refused to appear before SCOPA.
Parliament’s Standing Committee Public Accounts on Eskom-related investigations has voted to subpoena retired police brigadier Jaap Burger to appear on the 15th of next month. Burger has yet again been ordered to appear before SCOPA.
He has refused to appear before the committee, telling Speaker of Parliament Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula that SCOPA does not have the authority and mandate to call him.“The date set is the 15 of November for him to appear before the Committee and the correspondence was dispensed to him a short while ago indicate that. And the summons will amplify further once they’re dispensed to him.
