A Scoot flight from Melaka to Singapore faced a series of delays and ultimately was cancelled, leaving passengers frustrated and seeking compensation. The flight was grounded due to a fuel tanker problem at the Melaka International Airport, causing a significant disruption to passengers' travel plans.
Passengers on a Scoot flight from Melaka to Singapore were left furious after experiencing a series of delays and ultimately having their flight cancelled. Scoot flight TR403, scheduled to depart at 10:15 pm on Friday, January 10th, and arrive in Singapore at 11:10 pm, faced a series of setbacks due to an unforeseen problem at the Melaka International Airport . One passenger, Mr. Lin, who arrived at the airport at 8 pm, shared his ordeal. Mr.
Lin, travelling with his wife, child, and colleague for an event in Singapore on Saturday, witnessed the flight's departure time pass without any sign of the plane. He discovered that the previous flight had been delayed due to weather conditions, a situation he understood. However, their plane allegedly only arrived in Melaka at around 11 pm, and by 12 am, passengers were still unable to check in, raising concerns. Mr. Lin observed technicians examining the plane's engine and inquired about the delay. Staff informed him it was due to the weather. As time progressed, passengers grew increasingly agitated. By 1 am, Mr. Lin's child was hungry and other passengers were impatient. Scoot staff distributed mineral water and bread, but the boarding was still delayed. Passengers repeatedly questioned the staff about the issue and the plane's condition, but they persistently attributed the delay to weather conditions. Finally, at 2:30 am, passengers were allowed to board the plane. Mr. Lin fell asleep immediately but awoke half an hour later to find the plane still on the ground. The captain announced that the plane had to return to the hangar due to an engine malfunction and asked passengers to disembark. Mr. Lin expressed his anger at the lengthy wait and questioned why they weren't informed about the potential flight cancellation earlier. Instead of enduring the wait from 8 pm to 4 am, they could have made alternative arrangements. Mr. Lin and his family ended up driving to Johor Bahru at 5 am and taking a bus to Singapore, arriving past 10 am and missing their scheduled activities. Due to the significant losses and costs incurred, Mr. Lin is seeking RM6,200 in compensation. He contacted Scoot's customer service and was informed that they would offer gift certificates as compensation and that refunds would take 20 days to process and another 14 days to be credited. Mr. Lin believes the issue stemmed from a problem with their aircraft and hopes for full compensation for his tickets and other losses. Scoot has since responded, stating that a fuel tanker problem at the Melaka International Airport prevented the plane from refueling, leading to the cancellation of flight TR403. They added that Scoot provided accommodation and meals to the affected passengers and arranged for alternative transportation to Singapore at 2 pm on Saturday, January 11th. Scoot also acknowledged that several flights were delayed or rescheduled due to severe weather conditions in and around Singapore over the weekend. They emphasized their commitment to passenger and crew safety and their continuous monitoring of weather conditions to make operational adjustments when necessary
