Mick Schumacher's F1 career is hanging by a thread. But he's just received a big boost. F1 9WWOS
McLaren has shared an image of Schumacher on social media, showing the German in the cockpit of one of its cars.
"McLaren will be able to call on @SchumacherMick as a reserve driver during the 2023 F1 season as part of our arrangement with Mercedes," the team wrote.McLaren's new team boss, Andrea Stella, was an engineer for Schumacher's father, Michael, at Ferrari between 2002-2006.Schumacher will also be a reserve driver for Mercedes in the event either Lewis Hamilton or George Russell is unfit to drive.
The German will be hoping to use the roles as a launchpad for a return to the grid in a full-time capacity in 2024, in much the same way that Nyck de Vries has done this season.
