JOHOR BARU: Schools in the three haze-hit districts will remain closed until the air quality improves.
Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal said that until the air quality improved, schools in Pontian, Muar and Tangkak would stay closed.
Dr Sahruddin said this after officiating the state-level Rukun Negara appreciation programme held at SMK Tasek Utara here on Sunday ."The community must also be aware of the air quality in their respective areas to safeguard themselves from any illnesses related to the haze," he said. State Education Department director Azman Adnan said the Education Ministry stated that if the API reading was more than 200, all schools in the area or district should be closed.
"Principals, headmasters and teachers must be present in schools as usual and carry out their duties in line with the ministry's guidelines on managing lessons and learning due to disasters," he said in a statement.
